Great breakfast and atmosphere! The gentlemen and lady behind the bar are splendid to have conversations with! Quick to get your food and coffee refilled. Hand down a great place, I'll be back!
The Deuce is my home-base for breakfast. Whether for a regular menu item, a special scramble off the big board, a build-your-own omelet, or a lighter dish like homemade granola, it has your breakfast desire.
It is a cool setting, with records and other memorabilia on the walls, and a hot sauce bar featuring dozens of obscure bottles of heat. The bar is the place to be to take in enlightening conversation from Chris Cooley, the multi-faceted artist that just happens to own the diner. While he skillfully engages on any topic, his business sense subtly carries the day. Everything is in place, anything can be done, and it is always done efficiently. It is an eclectic crew, for sure, but they make meals happen in an endearing fashion.
Best Of:
Big Waffle - A well-done round and quartered waffle, sweet enough that no syrup is necessary, topped with bacon and eggs any style.
Trainer's Special - Scrambled egg whites and sausage, and a big buckwheat pancake. Again, no syrup needed.
Harvard Special - If you go big, the big chicken-fried chicken with eggs and other breakfast accompaniment will handle any appetite.
Lunch is great too! But I'm a breakfast guy, and BBD II The Deuce is tough to top.
Came in for lunch for the first time. Like their breakfast a lot even though it gets crowded for brunch. Place is pretty empty around this time of day. Wife had the chicken club with fries and I had the chicken fried chicken. Her's was very good and fries were decent. They charge extra for three fries over chips which sucks a little. Chicken fried chicken was decent but the gravy o it wasn't that tasty and very salty. Mash potatoes were decent and green beans good. Next time I think I'll try a hot sandwich or huger for lunch.
